Our founder Sri A.M. Gopalan, popularly known as Gokulam Gopalan launched the Chit and finance business on 23rd July 1968 at Mylapore, Chennai with a single branch. For over 54 years, we have served the community with dedication and integrity. We have expanded our presence to 479 branches across the country. The chit-fund industry was once a small unorganized sector with local schemes run by individuals. We have transformed it into a professional and reliable sector with nationwide reach.

At Gokulam, we pioneered the development of scalable, reliable and transparent schemes for our customers. We recognized that the participation of people, especially women, was crucial for achieving success. Therefore, we decided to offer our services at the convenience of our customers and thus initiated the phase of expansion. Depending on the affordability of households, they could enrol in the schemes starting from as low as Rs.100, to plan and save for their family’s future.

Operating a chit-fund involves floating of a chit-fund scheme, finding potential members, enrolling members into a chit, collecting contributions, conducting chit-auctions, distributing funds, and maintaining books.
