PNB MetLife Damini
Making way for inclusive growth, PNB MetLife’s CSR initiative, Damini, focuses on spreading awareness and catalyzing change in a woman’s life, across all stages of life. Through this initiative, we have partnered with several leading NGOs who share our vision and commitment to supporting and empowering the girl child as she embarks on her journey to womanhood.
Educating for a Bright Tomorrow
Enabling inclusive and quality education as it is one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development. Gender equality also empowers women and girls to enable economic growth and development.
We aim to provide a nurturing environment for economically and socially disadvantaged girls, ensuring they have the opportunity to complete their schooling with our NGO partner in Moga (Punjab) and Varanasi (UP). By doing so, we are aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals of Quality Education and Gender Equality, as well as the Government of India's 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' initiative.
Education is a powerful tool for social transformation and empowerment and through our efforts, we strive to break down barriers that hinder these girls from accessing education. Our focus is on providing them with resources, scholarships, mentorship programs, and other support systems that empower them to succeed academically and reach their full potential.
Creating Women Entrepreneurs
Promoting sustained economic growth, higher levels of productivity and encouraging entrepreneurship for marginalized women for sustainable development.
Along with our partner NGO, we have developed a community-led and 360-degree business and supply chain ecosystem through an integrated model of skill development and channel promotion for a sustainable impact on the self-reliance of marginalised rural women. The objective is to enable and empower women communities in Varanasi and Gorakhpur (UP) with special inputs through Financial Inclusion drives and through Making In Rural India (MIRI) concept and product-based inclusion.
The program is aimed at making vocational training accessible to these women and supporting them to become local entrepreneurs through self-reliant, sustainable economic and social solutions. Additionally, the online train-the-trainer concept is leveraged to provide all the necessary support for capacity building, content and planning.
Enabling Adolescent girls through Health and Hygiene awareness
Multisectoral, rights-based and gender-sensitive approaches are essential to address inequalities and to build good health for all. Enabling access to sexual & reproductive health care and education on menstrual health and hygiene.
PNB MetLife works closely with their partner NGOs to create awareness of adolescent issues related to health, sanitation, and nutrition. The project is run for underprivileged adolescent tribal girls in West Bengal and underprivileged adolescent girls in urban slums in Kolkata to build awareness on maintaining good menstrual health, make sanitary napkins accessible through donation drives and vending machines, conduct periodic health check-ups and develop change agents to create a wider reach.
PNB MetLife Glow Green
PNB MetLife’s Glow Green initiative is committed to creating sustainable community-led change. The initiative, driven in association with an environmental conservation NGO, takes proactive steps to address the impact of climate change and is deeply aligned with our company’s purpose of helping our customers and communities build a more confident future.
Protect the Environment
Supporting vulnerable regions directly contributes to this and other SDGs to drive positive climate change, through different activities including tree plantation and community-led engagement.
By prioritizing planting saplings in eco-sensitive areas across India: Delhi NCR, Pune, Bangalore and Uttrakhand, we are committed to increasing green cover and creating a sustainable ecosystem through long-term engagement of the communities in growing and nurturing of trees. Communities and villages benefit from improved air quality, increased biodiversity in the form of birds, insects and wildlife recharged groundwater table and reduced carbon footprint thus contributing to the global agenda of meeting Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
