The Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram established in 1981, is an internationally recognised centre providing state-of-the-art facilities for cancer diagnosis, treatment, palliation and rehabilitation and conducting a wide range of research on various types of cancers. This state-owned premier cancer care hospital and research centre is one among the six centres instituted in India under the ‘National Cancer Control Programme’ of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The Centre has a second campus at Pulayanarkotta, Thiruvananthapuram and three outreach centres located in Palakkad, Ernakulam and Kollam districts. In addition to keeping a Hospital Based Cancer Registry, the Centre runs the Population Based Cancer Registry (South Kerala), covering Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts.
RCC is a Government of India-recognised ‘State Cancer Institute ‘ and also holds the coveted NABH accreditation.
