Indian Institute of Handloom Technology-Kannur, is one among the 10 IIHTs which is an autonomous Institute under the industries department, Govt of Kerala and the nodal agency in the state for providing science and Technology to the traditional Handlooms and textile Industry. The Institute was established and registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 in the year 1987 named as Handloom Training Institute (HTI) and then upgraded to the Institute of Handloom and Textile Technology (IHTT). Now IHTT is amalgamated with the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology-Kannur (IHTT-K), which is working on the guidelines of the State Govt. and Indian Institute of Handloom Technologies (IIHTs), Ministry of Textile, Govt of India for Industrial Intervention in the north of Kerala. Our activities are also operated from Balaramapuram, south of Kerala.
