Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE), under the Department of Labour, a Government of Kerala undertaking has established the Indian Institute of Infrastructure & Construction (IIIC) at Chavara in Kollam District. KASE identified the 93-year-old Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society ULCCS as the skilling partner for offering Skill development programmes. The objective of IIIC is to conduct courses for the skill development of workers and managers in the infrastructure and construction sectors. With its strong experience in the construction sector, ULCCS is ideally positioned to take the lead in transforming IIIC into a state-of-the-art skill institute. ULCCS has established a separate division namely UL Education to promote higher education, skill development, and entrepreneurship and to improve employability with collaborators from across the globe. In India, there is a growing awareness about the need for skill development. ULCCS intends to improve employability through appropriate skilling processes with industry interfaces across the globe.
